DESCRIPTION:The Anew WIU: Together We Thrive Kickoff Event is a collaborative and forward-thinking gathering to reimagine the future of Western Illinois University. We'll explore how WIU can break out of silos\, embrace innovative strategies\, and create a thriving\, sustainable institution that meets the needs of today's students and community. Keynote speaker Dr. Darris Means\, Professor of Educational Leadership and Dean's Fellow for Rural Education at Clemson University\, will inspire us to think creatively about change and leadership in higher education. Dr. Means will also participate in a panel discussion featuring Dr. Yvonne Villaneuva-Russell\, Provost and Executive Chancellor for Academic Affairs at UNC-Asheville\, Dr. Julie Brines\, Assistant Professor of College Student Personnel and UPI Vice President and Dr. Kristi Mindrup\, Western Illinois University President where panelists will address critical topics such as shared governance\, interdisciplinary opportunities\, and fostering trust amidst challenges. Following the panel\, attendees will engage in roundtable discussions to share ideas on reimagining university structures\, leveraging faculty and staff expertise\, enhancing communication and transparency\, and fostering a welcoming and inclusive campus and community environment. The event emphasizes proactive approaches\, innovative leadership\, and a commitment to collective growth\, ensuring a thriving future for us all.
