Etty Yaniv's 3-D paper installations oscillate between urban architecture and biomorphic fragments, landscape and topography, diagram and gesture. Although her installations typically draw upon urban places in transition she has lived in, they also blur the lines between actual and imagined spaces, inviting the viewer to enter an invented yet familiar environment. Etty Yaniv was born in Tel Aviv, Israel and currently works on her art and writing in Brooklyn. She holds BA in Psychology and Literature from Tel Aviv University, BFA from Parsons School of Design, and MFA from SUNY Purchase. She is integrating drawing, photography and painting to form three dimensional immersive environments, focusing especially on site sensitive installations. Her work has been printed in publications such as The New York Times, Village Voice and The Nation. She has exhibited in galleries, museums and alternative spaces in solo and group shows nationally and internationally. This exhibition is funded in part by a Visiting Lectures Committee Grant Award.
